Cowal Ceilidh Tent 2010
Sponsored by McArthur Property Group

Cowal Ceilidh Tent was introduced as an additional attraction to complement the traditional Pipe Band sound for which Cowal Gathering is World famous. It is now an integral part of the Gathering attracting a new audience to the event but also enhancing the enjoyment for traditional Cowal followers - with many of the pipe band members heading to the Ceilidh Tent for an afternoon of entertainment before taking part in the March Past.

Performances range from the traditional to the contemporary but always embracing Scotland’s reputation for having some of the finest musicians in the World. 2010 will see a slightly different format with uninterrupted music and longer sets – bring your dancing shoes…..you will need them

1200 hrs DEOCH ‘N’ DORUS
(Sponsored by Argyll Holidays)
Making a return visit to Cowal, this popular young Ceilidh Band has gone from strength to strength since forming in 2001. Favourites on both the Ceilidh and Festival scene, Simon Moran (Fiddle), Stuart Cameron (Accordion) and Andrew MacPherson (Drums/Bagpipes) are all musicians of the very highest calibre having graduated from the prestigious RSAMD in Glasgow. Deoch ‘n’ Dorus offers a mix of traditional and original sounds combined with an energy and enthusiasm that will have the dance floor full in no time.

1315 hrs GUNNA SOUND
(sponsored by Argyll Holidays)
New to the Ceilidh Tent but famous throughout the west coast, Campbell Brown and Johnny Scoular form one of the most popular Ceilidh Bands in Scotland. Today’s line up will include their good friends Stephen MacInnes (Drums) and Ross MacPherson (Piano). With a wide repertoire; Gunna Sound offers the chance to dance to an eclectic mix of music and song interspersed with some good craic – this will be one not to be missed.

1445 hrs DEOCH ‘N’ DORUS
Word will have spread that the Ceilidh Tent is the place to be – so - if you missed the first set whilst viewing other Cowal attractions then here is another chance to dance to the feet tapping sound of Deoch ‘n’ Dorus.

1600 hrs SKERRYVORE (Sponsored by Argyll Holidays)
The Ceilidh Tent “rocked” to their high energy performance last year so we are delighted to welcome back, by popular demand, Skerryvore. Billed as the “new Runrig”; this award winning Band with their traditional roots in Tiree have developed their own distinctive sound, fusing the traditional with the urban sounds of rock and funk. With a new Album just released followed by a successful summer tour, we can guarantee another explosive performance from Skerryvore

…..don’t miss the last blast of the day……
